JG Summit in Forbes' Asian Top 50 for 2011

JG Summit Holdings, Inc. is the only Philippine company in the Forbes magazine's 50 best publicly traded companies in Asia-Pacific for 2011. JG Summit's business includes aviation (Cebu Pacific), telecommunications (Sun Cellular), consumer products (Universal Robina Corporation), real estate (Robinson's Land Corporation and United Industrial Corporation Ltd), hotels, petrochemicals (JG Summit Petrochemical Corporation) and banking (Robinsons Bank).
John Gokongwei, Jr., the founder of JG Summit, is one of the Top 40 Richest Filipinos for 2011 (ranked 3rd, to be exact), with an estimated family fortune of $2.4 billion. It's interesting to note that the Top 2 most richest Filipinos in 2011 (Henry Sy and Lucio Tan) are not in the list.
The Top 50 includes 23 companies from China, 7 from India, 8 from South Korea, 3 from Australia, 2 from Indonesia (including the No. 1, Adaro Energy), 2 from Thailand, 1 from Singapore, 1 from Malaysia, 1 from Taiwan.
Now, in case you have a plan to join the list, it might help to know that technology companies has 8 representatives, the most in the list, with consumer durables industry coming second, with 7 representatives.
