First off, I'd like to congratulate Johanna (http://yohanny.multiply.com) on the launch of the maiden issue of the magazine Daigdig Pinoy. Although the online home for the magazine has been up for serveral months now, the distribution of the freshly printed hard copies at the Systems Integration Philippines Expo at the World Trade Center marks the grand launch for Daigdig Pinoy.

Daigdig Pinoy is Johanna and her father's brainchild and ever since its conceptualization, Johanna has been at the front lines of the magazine's production. She has taken most of the photographs for the magazine, at one point even faced a stampede of angry carabaos just to get a photo, she has done most of the interviews, has written most of the articles and is the one woman force behind www.daigdigpinoy.com and it's sister venture www.worldsourcedirect.com.

According to her father, Mr. Jose Toh, the aim of the magazine is "to showcase the beauty of our country, the Philippines... it's culture, people, festivities and much more. As the saying goes, a picture speaks a thousand words. Daigdig Pinoy hopes to achieve just that, with the end goal of promoting tourism, trade development and eventually, more employment."

Because of these goals, Daigdig Pinoy is FREE.

At the expo, Johanna was there manning their booth even though she was still recovering from an injured ankle while on assignment for another article for the magazine. Of course the first thing I asked for was my copy of the magazine. =) We were also excited to learn that copies of Daigdig Pinoy have been shipped to several countries already and was being well received by the Filipino communities there. I think Johanna is doing a really great job on this magazine and I'm looking forward to their next issue.
