Poll for Pinoys

Your President in 2010?

Poll: Choice for President in the 2010 Elections Print E-mail
Written by Pinoy Entrepreneur, on 29-08-2009

The presidential race in the 2010 elections is heating up. We are constantly bombarded with commercials and press releases. Candidates are positioning themselves as the bettter presidential choice. Survey results are released, showing the front runners in the Presidential race. It's time we have our own informal survey.

There's no question why this poll should be here. The President's decisions affect all sectors of the country, including the business community. We were tempted to limit the poll to business/economic considerations, as this is a site for Pinoy Entrepreneurs. We've thrown out this assumption not only because the best economic-minded presidential candidate may not necessarily be the best choice, but also because a choice is ideally based on all factors.

The frontrunners in the August 2009 nationwide survey of Pulse Asia are the following: Senator Manuel B. Villar, Former President Joseph Estrada, Vice-President Noli L. de Castro, Senator Francis G. Escudero and Manuel A. Roxas II. On the other hand, the following names emerged in the Second Quarter 2009 survey of Social Weather Stations (SWS): Senator Manny Villar, former Pres. Joseph Estrada, Sen. Francis Escudero, Sen. Mar Roxas, Vice-Pres. Noli de Castro, Sen. Loren Legarda, Sen. Panfilo Lacson, Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay, Sen. Richard Gordon, MMDA Chairperson Bayani Fernando, Sen. Francis Pangilinan, Brother Eddie Villanueva, Defense Sec. Gilbert Teodoro, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, Pampanga Gov. Ed Panlilio and Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago.

Let's have an informal poll -- Who will you vote for President in the 2010 elections? The initial run of the poll (29 August - 16 December 2009), which ended until a few days after the deadline for filing of Certificates of Candidacy, has the following results: Noynoy Aquino - 51.1% (1226); Manny Villar - 14.2% (341), Francis Escudero - 10.8% (259); Gilbert Teodoro - 7.8% (188); Joseph Estrada - 4.3% (104); Bayani Fernando - 3.1% (74); Mar Roxas - 2.6% (63); Jejomar Binay - 2% (49); Richard Gordon - 1.9% (45); Noli de Castro - 0.9% (21); Loren Legarda - 0.6% (14); and Ed Panlilio -  0.5% (13).

We are reopening a new poll to reflect the eight (8) "presidentiables" approved by the COMELEC. The poll is still found at the left side of this site.

You could explain your vote, or give any comments, at the comment section below. Track the results here.

I choose Gilbert "Gibo" Teodoro is my voting President in 2010 election. His education is top class. On the side, he is a licensed commercial pilot and has a Lear Jet rating (he can fly his own Air Force One). Gibo have a greatest potential and capacity to lead the country. He has a great personality. He is God-fearing, a true family man. He also seems someone na walang kaaway, so I have to agree with the idea na kaya niyang ipagkaisa ang admin at opposition towards a better Philippines. His work ethic I think is unparalleled. I believe this is one of the reasons why he is not so “popular” because he only does his work, and does it with commitment to excellence.

I will vote for Bayani Fernando cause he has political will and does what is right not what the majority wants to make his image look good. Noynoy is a good person but that is all. Voting for him is another sentimental journey and not good for a struggling economy like ours na the people expect to receive than to give back to our country. Kaya I think Bayani Fernando is a good choice cause the Filipinos need a strong and straight leader.

Si Bro.Eddie Villanueva ang dapat na maging presidente ng Pilipinas. Siya ang higit na malinis na kandidato sa lahat ng aspeto ng kanyang pagkatao. Hgit sa lahat, man of God siya hindi man of himself. Lets vote for Bro. Eddie Villanueva, a righteous and God-fearing man.God bless the Phils.

let's all take time to contemplate. parang andami nang willing mag vote for noynoy. it's not that i have anything against him.. it's just that are we really sure he'll be a great leader for our country? just because he's the son of the former president who served as a catalyst for freedom from dictatorship doesn't make him ipso facto qualified to be president in our present time and age.. his mom left a great legacy but does that really make him the most qualified to serve our countrymen as president of this nation?
