WHEREAS, upon the demise of former President Corazon C. Aquino, Proclamation NO. 1850 was issued, declaring a period of national mourning rom August 1, 2009 to August 10, 2009;

WHEREAS, the former President will be laid to her final rest on August 5, 2009;

WHEREAS, it is but proper for a grieving people be given the opportunity to honor and show their respect, appreciation and gratitude to the beloved former President in their own respective ways.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in my by law, do hereby declare August 5, 2009, Wednesday, to be a special non-working holiday nationwide in honor of the late former President Corazon C. Aquino.

This Proclamation shall take effect immediately.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
