Declared regular and special non-working holidays provide for additional rest periods for everyone, both employers and workers. To the employers or Pinoy Entrepreneurs, declared holidays have operational and financial impact that must be considered in advance.

The official holidays for 2009 have been fixed through the issuance of Proclamation No. 1699 and we've accordingly updated the list of 2009 holidays  (click here). By way of summarizing the list, there are ten (10) long weekends in 2009:

 August 29-31
(3 days, Saturday to Monday)
 : National Heroes Day

(3 days, Saturday to Monday)
 : All Saints/Souls Day
November 28-30
(3 days, Saturday to Monday)
 : Bonifacio Day
December 24-27
(4 days, Thursday to Sunday)
 : Christmas season

December 30/31-Jan. 3, 2010
(5 days, Wednesday to Sunday)
