Official 2009 Holidays: Declared National and Regular Holidays in the Philippines Print E-mail

Maybe you're planning your 2009 vacations this early. Most of the 2009 regular holidays and nationwide special holidays are movable, as provided under Republic Act 9492 (an Act rationalizing the celebration of national holidays). For these movable holidays, the President is tasked by law to issue a Proclamation, at least 6 months prior to a movable holiday, fixing the specific date of that non-working day (if you're looking for the guidelines on the computation of holiday pay or premium, go here). Here's the list of Philippine holidays under RA 9492 and Proclamation 1699, unless otherwise indicated:

National Regular Holidays and Special Non-Working Holidays (unless otherwise indicated as a special non-working holiday, the holiday listed is a regular holiday)

The Eidul Adha shall be celebrated as a regional holiday in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). The list will be updated, with specific dates, and other special holidays will be added as soon as the relevant Proclamation/s is/are issued. Since January 2, 2009 is a Friday, would it be appropriate to have it declared as a special non working day. I think many workers will still be in the provinces for the long vacation. One more thing, there will be plenty of household chores to attend to because of the mess during New Year's Eve and many would feel tired due to lack of sleep.

Sana po ay mayroon ng pasok sa Jan 2 para po maayos ko yung OEC ko sa POEA dahil ang alis ko po ay Jan 5...wla na po akong oras para kumuha nito dahil sa sobrang haba ng walang pasok...

What about the EDSA revolution anniversary? Hindi na ba talaga holiday para kay Gloria yung araw na yon?
