Pinoy Entrepreneurs resources: GoNegosyo Print E-mail
There are a number of institutions, both private and public, that promote entrepreneurship in the Philippines (there's a list of some of these organizations in the Pinoy Entrepreneurs' helpful links/resources). One of these organizations, or shall I call entrepreneurship movement, is GoNegosyo.

I first learned of this movement through the book "GoNegosyo" (Joey Concepcion), which contains inspiring stories of, and helpful lessons from, successful Pinoy entrepreneurs (photo courtesy of GoNegosyo). I later learned that there's a GoNegosyo movement and, of course, a website. The GoNegosyo site describes the institution, as well as the movement, in its website:

The Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE) is a non-stock and non-profit organization registered under the Securities and Exchange Commission, which envisions itself to be the preeminent local institution that promotes entrepreneurship nationwide by improving education, fostering a culture of enterprise, and providing a marketplace of innovations and best practices, thereby spawning competitive Filipino entrepreneurs.
...

By conducting interventions in the key stages of the Entrepreneur's Life Cycle, PCE aims to spawn the creation of "Go Negosyo" communities around the country. These are communities where the norm and way of life is for the academic, business and government sectors to seamlessly collaborate on improving the lives of the people through entrepreneurship. An ecosystem of constant networking, mentoring and cooperation will thus prevail among academics, entrepreneurs, industry experts and venture capitalists, with the government providing support through a viable policy infrastructure. Campuses will also be transformed into genuine business incubators.

Go Negosyo communities are supposed to thrive on the same collaborative spirit that gave rise to Silicon Valley in California, Route 128 in Boston and Bangalore in India. These vibrant communities are likely to emerge earliest in Philippine university towns like Iloilo, Los Banos, Baguio, and Dumaguete. Every Go Negosyo community will be distinguished by its ability to produce a continuous stream of startup ventures.
It's gratifying to note that GoNegosyo also gives importance to the "colloborative spirit" among Pinoy Enterepreneurs, something which the Pinoy Entrepreneurs site promotes. Verily, while business thrives on competition, it also requires cooperation and collaboration. This is particularly true in today's global economy, where dominant business organizations seek to increase their reach - and their profis - by extending their presence beyond their national borders. As the Pinoy Entrepreneurs' motto goes - "In a global economy dominated by entrenched giants, the Pinoy Entrepreneurs can still make it big".

We will feature more articles and resources for the Pinoy Entrepreneurs in the days to come. For more information on GoNegosyo, as well as other helpful information for entrepreneurs, please go to the GoNegosyo website.
