In the course of running the Business Directory component of the Pinoy Entrepreneurs blog (Pinoy-Business.com), we've made certain observations on the manner that Pinoy Entrepreneurs list their respective businesses. This post is categorized under "Site Help", which would normally mean that this applies only to this blog, but the nature of the discussion below applies to any business directories, listings or online yellow pages that the Pinoy Entrepreneurs might join to further expose their business.
1. Provide the business name. You'll be known by your business or registered name, in the same way that an individual is known by his name. Some indicate the product instead of the business name, which is improper because that space is specifically intended for the business name. A business name is important to send the message that you're not a fly-by-night business entity. 2. Provide a contact name and information. Scam and con artists make sure that their identities are hidden. Maybe except in large companies where there's a constant change of positions, it's good to indicate the name behind the product or service. You should not be afraid to associate your name with the product or service you're selling. 3. Provide a description. There's a space specifically provided for a description of the business. Advanced users have a way of configuring how the final output looks like, but the basic user could simply type in the description without any fuss. Include a description, whether a concise or extended. A reader will likely follow the lead provided by the description. More importantly, the description will show up in search engines like Google or Yahoo!, and will thus increase your chances of appearing in searches. If clients know your name, then they will go directly to your site. However, a large chunk of potential clients may not know that your business even exists. Potential customers search for the service or product. That's the importance of a good description. 4. Get a website. There are free platforms where you could start introducing your products and services. If you're serious in growing your business, however, it's good to have your own website. The commonly-used platform is Multiply, although we've already discussed the issue on using it for commercial purposes. Let's face it, the internet has greatly affected the world, including the business world.
