We chanced upon a list of 33 Best Beaches in Asia ( Conde Nast Traveller magazine, October 2007 issue) while in Hongkong. We were surprised that Boracay, one of the world's best beaches, is not among the best beaches in Asia (I still maintain that it's one of the best beaches, although my word holds no weight as I haven't been to the other beaches ). The good thing is, the Philippines is still in the list, as Palawan is among the overall best beaches.
The photo to the left, with the author going against the flow, er, warning sign, is the gateway to the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park. It is also known as the Underground River. I guess you know that Puerto Princesa is the capital of Palawan, but perhaps you may not be aware that the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park has been declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. To help and vote for it as a New 7 Wonders of the World, click here.
If swimming is not allowed in and around the Underground River, swimming is most certainly possible in the rest Palawan. To know more about what you could do or see in Palawan, please check the WOW! Philippines site.
