Promoting Intellectual Property Rights in the Philippines Print E-mail
The Philippines has the lowest patent filing in Asia, according to Intellectual Property Office (IPO) Director General Adrian Cristobal, Jr. He said that for 60 years, there were only 27 patents given, and only 3 were granted from 2005 until today. He also emphasized the need to promote intellectual property, which is all about creativity and innovation.

On 25 October 2007, Director General Cristobal and Philippine Science Journalists president Angelo Palmones met with the media to discuss the promotion and protection of intellectual property rights. The video which captures the discussion with Director General Cristobal and Mr. Palmones is courtesy of Inquirer.net.
