Sonnie's Porch is a repository of Severo Santos' thoughts – ramblings, reflections and anecdotes on entrepreneurship, career and corporate life, i.e., work-life balance, office politics, spiritual intelligence.

Severo E. Santos, also known to family and friends as Sonnie, and SES to colleagues, is into Motivational and “Self Help” stuff. Presently a Human Resource Generalist, Mentor and Trainer, he also authored several anecdotes on work issues and career development in the context of practical wisdom.

According to Sonnie, who is one of the first bloggers that became my acquaintance, he started with a yahoogroup two years back, then experimented with other blogging platforms. He eventually settled with his main site - Sonnie's Porch (http://sesantos.com.ph) - sometime in 2006.

The stated mission of Sonnie's Porch is to add value to blogging through, among others, blogs that impart leadership and management principles, impart HR Principles (Human Resources Management) to non-HR personnel, and advocate work-life-balance. The blog is also envisioned to be a pillar or porch where professionals and entrepreneurs can exchange views and speak their minds.

Only recently, I requested from Sonnie to suggest three articles that may be of interest to Pinoy Entrepreneurs. He graciously pointed to these articles: Integrity: Should It Matter?, Spiritual Intelligence and How to get ahead, lie and cheat?. In the third article, Sonnie noted that "in our competitive society, winning and getting ahead became the most important achievement, setting aside corporate ethics, fair play and character/principle based success." Being honest is a dilemma that has confronted mankind even way before. "The issues we are facing right now were similar issues the good guys faced during ancient times. Those who may have compromised for personal gain appears to be getting ahead and the good guys are left behind," he added.

The Pinoy Entrepreneurs will eventually come face to face with dilemmas such as this one. It's not always an easy decision to make, and perhaps it's better to be prepared even before the day of reckoning comes. Maybe, just maybe, the preparation would become richer while sitting on Sonnie's Porch.

(The Blogroll, one of the Topics of the Pinoy Entrepreneurs site, is a list of web logs or blogs of Pinoy Entrepreneurs and those that may be of interest to the Pinoy Entrepreneurs community.
