Pinoy Entrepreneurs need a break because, as they say, all work and no play makes you a dull one. So, either it's a company outing or a private vacation with the family during the upcoming long weekend ( June 7-9, Independence day or the rest of the national regular and special holidays for 2008 in the Philippines). With pressure-packed moments during business hours, many prefer taking the slow lane during vacations. Anyway, wherever you are, please remember these road safety tips: |

The Pinoy Entrepreneurs site had a poll ( click here) regarding the most problematic factors in doing business in the Philippines. The most problematic factor, based on the poll, is graft and corruption (63.9%). Surprisingly, no one considered "crime and theft" as a problematic factor. Then came the robbery of the RCBC bank which resulted not only to the loss of millions of pesos, but also to the gruesome death of ten people. |

In business, time and resources are gold, so we really don't want to clutter the inbox of subscribers ( click here to read how to subscribe) with useless or trivial pieces of information. The required number of corporate directors seems to be an obvious matter, which is the reason we haven't discussed it here. There is the usual effort to distinguish between an entrepreneur and an employee, although the line is sometimes blurred. Some say an entrepreneur is a risk-taker. Others say that employees are resource-oriented, while entrepreneurs are opportunity-oriented, as we previously discussed. Still, a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or General Manager could be considered to have the traits of an entrepreneur, blazing the path of the company that he/she is managing, but it may happen that the CEO/CM does not own any shares in the company. Also, an entrepreneur may also be an employee of his own business. The Pinoy Entrepreneur is self-employed (though it's always prudent to be mindful of the entrepreneurial myth). |

A business plan is basically a written outline that evaluates all aspects of the economic viability of a business venture, including a description and analysis of the business prospects. According to the Business Philippines, a site of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) that we previously cited as one of the government sites most helpful to the Pinoy Entrepreneurs, a business plan is an essential step for any prudent entrepreneur to take, regardless of the size of the business. |

Pinoy Entrepreneurs, in establishing a company or business, usually have a code of conduct for employees. This may not be necessary for business endeavors that are just starting out, but having a set of policies should always be considered. There’s a wide array of policies. For our discussion, let’s focus on a policy that recently reached the courts -- the policy of the employer banning spouses from working in the same company. It has been said that love blossoms in every place and circumstance, including the workplace. |

All work and no play for the Pinoy Entrepreneurs is bad not only to physical health, but also to the emotional health of the family. So, after working hard for the entire week, it is always good for the Pinoy Entrepreneurs to go out, spend time with the family and enjoy, specially during long weekends (list of 2008 holidays here). All the hard work, after all, is for the family. |
